Some of you already know one of our therapists, Sarah Pluves, who works at Welwyn Natural Therapy Centre on Thursday mornings. Well, I'm very excited to say that Sarah is now extending her hours into Thursday afternoon.
Sarah is a Bowen Therapist, Reflexologist and Reiki Master and works very much at a holistic level, i.e. treating the person rather than the symptom. Saying that, Sarah's had some great successes at Natural Therapy Centre helping people with knee problems, back pain, hayfever, stress and frozen shoulder to name just a few things. Here's a quick run down of the therapies Sarah does:
Bowen Technique
The Bowen Technique is a remedial, hands-on therapy that is applied using very gentle pressure. Sarah uses thumbs and fingers on precise points of the body to perform Bowen's unique sets of rolling-type moves which stimulate the muscles and soft tissue of the body. There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and no force is used. Musculoskeletal problems such as frozen shoulder, back and neck pain account for the majority of conditions brought for Bowen treatment, it can also be helpful with more organic problems. Clients have reported significant improvements with hayfever, asthma, irritable bowel and stress.
Reflexology
More than just a foot massage, reflexology is a clinical tool for health. Pressure is applied to points on the feet known as reflex points, which correspond to joints, organs and systems in the body. It is extremely relaxing, ideal for stress, anxiety, lowering blood pressure. Reflexology is also useful for things like back pain, balancing hormones, fertility and migraines.
Reiki
Reiki is a safe, gentle and non-intrusive technique using energy to heal. It can be used as a physical therapy but using no pressure, maniupulation or massage. However it is far more than just a physical therapy and balances all aspects of a person, mind, body and spirit. You will probably fall asleep!
